New Monmouthshire campaign aiming to get people together for physical and creative activity has officially launched! #MakeorMove appeals to all ages, promoting and celebrating all forms of activity and creativity together with one another.

Visit www.mindmonmouthshire.org.uk/makeormove for more details along with how to get involved.

Local mental health charity, Mind Monmouthshire, designed #MakeorMove to highlight the importance of doing activities together with others, whether physical or creative, and how important connecting with people is in helping prevent poor mental health and wellbeing. The purpose of #MakeorMove is to help people increase their wellbeing and have fun. So challenge yourself.

Get creating or get moving, have fun together!

Chris Bowie CEO for Mind Monmouthshire said,

“We are excited to launch the #MakeorMove campaign, we have already had over 25 organisations and community groups wanting to be involved, from theatre groups to yoga, art, crafts, dance and more.

This campaign is about reaching out to your friend, neighbour or family member through doing some form of activity. This might be board games, drawing, painting, poetry, book reading, yoga, dance, drama, imagination is the limit. Everyone can do it and you get to have a good laugh at the same time.

As a mental health charity, we are aware of the benefits of such activities. We are reaching out to people who already take part to ask a neighbour, friend or family member to go with you, as we know it becomes a bit less daunting when you know someone. We are looking forward to working with everyone, together for better mental health”

One of the campaign’s official partners, Little Pips Founder Claire Duddridge said,

“This campaign is fantastic! I signed up straight away as an official partner and have been supported from the start. It highlights the wider benefits of the work Little Pips does, in terms of developing friendships, building community, and bringing people together to enjoy activities.

I am one of many partners involved and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing about all the other incredible partners too.

It is fantastic that a local mental health charity has put this campaign in place to not only benefit the individuals who take part, but to also highlight what other organisations and community groups are doing in the local area.

Not only have I made a commitment to this campaign by putting on #MakeorMove sessions, I will also be promoting the individual campaign sign up so that individuals receive a support pack, along with receiving a certificate once actively involved ”
